Platte River Musings

It's that time of year again when half a million cranes stopover in Nebraska for a month. Sadly, I can't be there to see them in person this year but thanks to the National Geographic crane cam. I've been able to enjoy the sight and sound of the evening fly-in sitting in front of my Mac. In fact, I've done just that every evening since they started the cam last Saturday.
The expansive beauty of the plains and cranes also come into my world via the stunning work of Michael Forsberg. The photo above is one of his, used with his blessing. One of his crane shots hangs on the wall in our dining room in Oregon, a touching portrait of a mother and chick beak to beak.
